Treasure Coast hotels welcome Hurricane Helene evacuees from Gulf Coast

Treasure Coast hotels Wednesday reported an increase in bookings from people evacuating Florida west coast communities in the projected path of Hurricane Helene, as well as customers leaving early with disrupted plans.

The hurricane was predicted to make landfall around the Big Bend region Thursday with significant flood warnings for residents in the Tampa Bay and Panhandle regions. The Treasure Coast was under a tropical storm warning.

Many hotels along Interstate 95 from Fort Pierce to Vero Beach started noticing an influx of bookings Tuesday.
