How to help CB West grad suffering with ALS with growing medical expenses

They are 12 words you don’t want to hear from your doctor: “Go home and put your affairs in order. There is no cure.”

That’s what Doylestown native Jason Smith, “Jay” to his family and friends, heard from his doctor in 2014 after he was diagnosed with ALS. His speech went first, then his ability to swallow, then his ability to walk, use his arms and hands. Feeding tubes were inserted to keep him alive. Then a trach, then a ventilator.

And the cruelty of the disease is that his mind remained perfectly sharp…
