ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Georgia Department of Transportation is preparing for possible ice and snow on roads throughout the state.
In the past decade, GDOT says it has increased its stockpile of salt. They’re also making their own brine, a liquid solution of water and salt sprayed on roads to prevent ice from bonding to the road surface.
Whenever ice and snowy weather moves through the region, crews focus first on major roadways. Drivers can expect to see trucks going about 40 miles per hour spraying brine along interstates 85, 75, 285, and 20 to make sure the roads are coated…
