SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) – Happy Monday, Utah! Last night moisture started filling in ahead of a cold front in northern Utah.
The bottom line? Valley snow for northern Utah will impact the morning commute for some on the Wasatch Front. Expect cold weather statewide!
The cold front itself is slated to pass over the Wasatch Front right around sunrise. The morning commute could get a little dicey for northern mountain routes, benches, and some spots on the northern Wasatch Front, but the impacts should be minimal. It’s nothing that snow plows won’t be able to take care of quickly, but it’s worth planning a little extra time so you can wipe off windshields, warm up the car, and drive cautiously.
Temperatures will be about 10 degrees below average in the north, and about 5 degrees above in the south. Daytime highs will be in the upper 30s and low 40s for northern valleys, mid-40s for central and southern valleys, 30s for higher terrain, and mid-50s for the typically warm spots down south. Tonight’s lows will fall into the 20s for most, teens for areas like Cache and mountain valleys, and even the warm spots will fall just below freezing.
Lingering moisture will allow for a few snow showers on Tuesday for portions of the Wasatch Front, Cache Valley, and northern Mountains. Not everyone will see snow on Tuesday, but keep an eye out for periods of lake-effect snow Tuesday morning along the Wasatch Front, especially if you’re in the northern half from North Salt Lake to Ogden.
