PARK CITY, Utah — Summit County will host its biannual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Canyons Cabriolet parking lot. The event, organized by Recycle Utah, Park City Municipal, Summit County, Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District, and Park City Sunrise Rotary, offers residents the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials and keep them out of landfills and water systems.

Summit County’s collection day aims to prevent toxic chemicals and heavy metals from contaminating the environment. Hazardous materials like mercury, lead, and pesticides can leach into the ground and drinking water if not properly disposed of.

Materials accepted at the event include paints, solvents, motor oil, batteries, gasoline, household cleaners, and electronic waste. Pharmaceuticals and mercury-containing items will also be accepted, and mattresses can be disposed of for a $20 fee…
