Pop-up doughnut bakery Kora is gearing up to open a brick-and-mortar bakery in Sunnyside at 45-12 Greenpoint Avenue . The new location is expected to open this fall or winter.
Owners Kimberly Camara and Kevin Borja launched Kora in 2020 after they were laid off from their positions in the hospitality industry because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The concept focuses on bringing Filipino flavors to customers through pastries and doughnut creations. It is largely inspired by Camara’s late grandmother, Corazon, whose recipes have helped fuel the concept.
The pop-up bakery, which currently operates in commercial kitchens and sells through an online ordering system, has built up a strong following over the past four years, even reaching a waitlist of 10,000 people, according to the Kora website…
