Loud explosion heard before raging blaze destroyed barn on Massachusetts farm, officials say

A barn located on a family-owned cranberry farm in Massachusetts was destroyed after a raging blaze broke out on Thursday night.

Crews responding to “at least seven 911 calls” for a large structure fire in the area of Southworth Street in Lakeville just before 7 p.m. learned a neighborhood resident heard a loud explosion that shook his home before spotting flames engulfing a shop and storage area on the Angers Conway Farm, according to the Lakeville Fire Department.

Horses and other farm animals were relocated from a nearby barn and firefighters spent more than five hours working to knock down the flames, officials said…
