MILWAUKEE – A Milwaukee man convicted of reckless homicide has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a January shooting on the city’s north side.
A jury found 30-year-old William McCoy guilty at trial in September of first-degree reckless homicide for the death of Jason Taylor. The victim was found dead in an alley near 14th and Burleigh.
Case details
According to a criminal complaint indicates, officers did not find any bullet casings in the area – “consistent with the victim being shot at a different location” and being left in the alley.
Investigators found Taylor’s vehicle near 13th and Burleigh. Prosecutors said blood was found inside, and a bullet casing later fell from between the front passenger sun visor and the roof during the search.
Court filings said investigators spoke with two people about what happened. One person said McCoy and Taylor were in a car and, at one point, the person heard a gunshot. The person also said McCoy walked away with “blood on his clothing.”…
