Downtown Rapid City statues dressed for another winter

Beginning Friday, the statues of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt Thomas Jefferson and all 43 presidents will take on a warmer, seasonal look.

Friday marks the 10th season when winter apparel items can be placed on the downtown Rapid City presidential statues. During wintery conditions, items such as gloves, scarves, ear muffs, hats, coats, even socks, are collected from the statues for those in need of the items.

As the traditional holiday season of giving gets underway, Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun is encouraging the public to not only place a winter apparel item on a downtown statue, but also to share their generosity with community organizations that assist those in need throughout the year…
