Heat Advisory Issued for Central and Northeastern South Dakota on Sunday

{KXLG – Watertown, SD} The National Weather Service (NWS) in Aberdeen, South Dakota, has issued a Heat Advisory for portions of west-central Minnesota and central, north-central, and northeastern South Dakota. The advisory will be effective from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM CDT on Sunday, August 25th, 2024.

  • Heat index values are expected to reach between 101- and 107-degrees Fahrenheit, with the hottest temperatures anticipated east of the Prairie Coteau.

Affected Areas:

  • Cities included in the advisory area are Milbank, Webster, Faulkton, Highmore, Sisseton, Fort Thompson, Aberdeen, Watertown, Eureka, Redfield, Britton, Ortonville, Miller, Clark, Clear Lake, Ipswich, Hayti, Wheaton, and Kennebec.
  • Hot temperatures and high humidity can increase the risk of heat illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
