Local police agencies in Louisville supporting inauguration safety in Washington, D.C.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police agencies around Louisville will support safety measures at the inauguration in Washington, D.C.

Louisville Metro Police sent a contingency to support the event. Other agencies including Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Louisville Airport Authority, Jeffersontown Police Department, Audubon Park Police Department, St. Matthews Police Department, Middletown Police Department and Oldham County Sheriff’s Office sent law enforcement officials as well.

According to LMPD, the officers and deputies were sworn-in and deputized by the U.S. Marshals Service, allowing the law enforcement officials to have police powers in and around venues in Washington, D.C…
