LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Families across the country will gather around the table with a hot meal this Thanksgiving, but the sad reality is that not every family can do that. That’s where the team with God’s Pantry Food Bank comes in, along with a team of volunteers.
Monday was the Lexington Sharing Thanksgiving distribution day at Southland Christian Church’s Lexington campus. Thousands of cars drove up to be filled with boxes of all the Thanksgiving favorites. God’s Pantry Food Bank CEO Michael Halligan gets to see the process from start to finish. Halligan said watching the reactions of families getting the food is the best reward.

“Starting last September, we began getting referrals and pre-registrations for these 8500 households. Then, everyone has a specific time where they get distribution, and that includes distributions that we’re doing in Floyd County that we’ve done in Laurel County that we’re doing in Rowan County, and Fayette,” Halligan said.
