Colonial Heights: Free community breakfast with pancakes, sausages, orange juice, coffee

COLONIAL HEIGHTS — You and your friends and family are invited to enjoy a free breakfast this Saturday with pancakes, link or patty sausages, orange juice and coffee at the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights. The Commander’s Breakfasts take place from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month, except for June and July.

“Our immediate past commander (June 2023-June 2024), Jon Merrill, resumed the practice after it stopped during COVID, and our current commander Tonya Meunier has sustained it,” Richard M. “Dick” Cole, American Legion Post 284 public relations officer and “News and Views” editor, said.

“The monthly breakfast is a way for us to give back to our community,” Meunier said. “The American Legion is charged with serving veterans and our local communities, and with inflation pushing the costs of groceries so high, having a free breakfast for our community was a way to help them with a meal and to help educate them about the Legion.”…
