PETERSBURG — Richmond-based Read to Them , a nonprofit organization that promotes family literacy, happily announced that Imagination Library RVA has expanded to Petersburg.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an international book gifting program designed to foster a love of reading in young children. Monthly, at zero cost to the family, Imagination Library provides a high-quality, age-appropriate, personalized book for each registered child from birth to age 5. Among many duties, Read to Them is responsible for registering children and covering the cost of books and postage for children in the cities of Richmond and Petersburg.
According to Read to Them’s press release, over 3,800 children under 5 years old have registered since Imagination Library arrived in Richmond. A parent or guardian must register the children, and in about eight to 10 weeks, they will receive free books…
