Brock Taylor is a name that people in the Mechanicsville area have gotten used to over the last few years. Whether battling in the trenches on Atlee’s offensive line or competing in high-level track events such as the shot put and discus, Taylor made his mark on both playing fields. However, his work off the field was his biggest challenge. Battles with mental health proved tricky along the way. So tough that he contemplated giving up the sport he had loved and cherished since he was 5 years old.
“I was debating if I was going to quit football,” Taylor said. “Honestly, I was debating quitting everything that I loved, and I had plenty of offers and visits at that point. I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders at the time and felt like I couldn’t deal with it.”…
