Record Highs 20 Degrees Above Normal: New Mexico Braces for Weekend Weather Shift

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – New Mexico is set for dramatic weather changes as record-breaking temperatures and strong winds sweep across the state this weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque predicts unseasonably warm weather today and Saturday, with highs reaching up to 20°F above normal in central and western areas.

Saturday will bring strong westerly winds, gusting 40-55 mph, with some peaks near 60 mph in the Guadalupe Mountains. Low humidity paired with high winds creates critical fire weather conditions for much of west-central and eastern New Mexico.
