ROCHESTER — When Megan Bellingham got home just after 1 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2022, she heard the smoke detectors first. Then she saw the smoke and the fire.

“That was the worst day of my life,” Bellingham said.

She called over a neighbor who was outside. That neighbor, Terry Nelson, brought his hose, hooked it up to an outside spigot at Bellingham’s house and entered the home, putting out the fire before Rochester firefighters even arrived at about 1:43 p.m…
