Canandaigua man accused of impersonating police officer with samurai sword

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Canandaigua man was arrested Wednesday, accused of simultaneously threatening and impersonating a police officer with a samurai sword.

According to the Canandaigua Police Department, William Pealo pulled a samurai sword on an officer who attempted to speak to him about an unrelated matter on August 6. Pealo, 42, allegedly pointed the sword at the officer’s chest and aggressively moved toward him.

Police said the officer was able to verbally deescalate the situation, at which point Pealo allegedly displayed a badge and pretended to be a police officer…
