TROY, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women’s tennis team fell to top seeded Hartwick in the Empire 8 Championship match on Saturday afternoon, 5-0. This marks the second-straight season for the Knights reaching their conference championship match, after falling in last years SUNYAC final to New Paltz.
The Knights were unable to pull out a doubles match and entered singles play down 3-0. Samantha Rava and Rachel Molloy fell at first doubles, 8-4. Natalie Pipes and Joann Catalano teamed up at second doubles and fell by a score of 8-2, while Katie Kujawa and Talia Wutz played third doubles and also tallied a score of 8-2.
In singles action, Wutz and Molloy couldn’t earn the win at third and fourth singles, respectively, and Hartwick was able to seal the victory, 5-0. Pipes and Rava had both won the first set at first and second singles, but were unable to finish their matches before the Hawks picked up the fifth point…
