Charlotte Woman Dies in Car Crash on North Tryon, Police Investigating Cause

A car crash in the North Tryon Division of Charlotte on Friday morning resulted in the death of 34-year-old Bianca Gebremedhin. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s report, officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of the Plaza at 9:22 a.m. where they found a Honda Accord with significant front-end damage.

A Ford Transit van, driven by 34-year-old Anthony Williams with a juvenile passenger, was also involved in the accident. Both Williams and the passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and, along with Bianca Gebremedhin, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Ms. Gebremedhin, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center. Hospital officials confirmed her death.

The investigation is being carried out by detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit and the Motor Unit, who arrived at the scene along with Crime Scene Search (CSS) personnel to process the site and collect evidence. Preliminary findings suggest that Ms. Gebremedhin lost control of her vehicle while traveling eastbound, failed to maintain her lane, and collided with Mr. Williams’s van, which was traveling in the opposite direction, as indicated in the report…
