INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – The Union County Sheriff’s Office says a Monroe man started the new year by making the same poor choices. On January 1, 2025, deputies were patrolling the Indian Trail area when they got a trespassing complaint. They responded to a large, wooded property between Old Charlotte Highway and Brick Yard Road. Deputies say this is a known “hot spot” for illegal dumping and trespassing.
Deputies say they found three men on the property, without the owner’s permission. Deputies say they could tell the men had been drinking. The deputies escorted the men to a nearby apartment complex where they claimed to be staying.
Afterward, deputies used a drone to search the expansive property and say they found two men near a pond. Deputies say the men were part of the same group they had just escorted off the property. As the men ran toward the cars at the apartment complex, the deputies followed…
