Moline, IL – Kawasaki Motors USA and Deere & Company have recalled 39,000 John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers due to fire and burn hazards. The recall also includes 2,600 units sold in Canada.

The voltage regulator in the mowers’ engines can fail, causing the engine to overheat and posing a risk of fire. Consumers have reported five instances of fires and 26 reports of engines smoking or melting. No injuries have been reported.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall covers John Deere Z720E, Z730M, Z740R, and Z760R models with Kawasaki engines. These mowers were sold nationwide at authorized John Deere dealers from October 2018 through September 2024. Prices for the mowers ranged from $8,000 to $11,500.
