Fans of Little Big Town have a lot to look forward to before the end of the year. The band is on an 18-show tour, with a Christmas album and a greatest hits album coming out. They’ll be at the Vibrant Arena in Moline on Saturday, November 16 at 7 p.m. Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet spoke with Our Quad Cities News via Zoom to talk about the projects they have in the works.
“It’s a wonderful, exciting tour,” said Sweet. “We’re going to be with Sugarland out there, and just a wonderful time. It’s called the Take Me Home Tour, and we recorded that actual song with them. We’ll perform that and also do some collaborations, but it’s a biggest production we’ve done ever, and we’re gonna have so much fun bringing this music out there.”
The holiday album, “The Christmas Record,” was recorded last year and the band tried to capture the seasonal ambience when recording. “We actually recorded a big portion of it in Savannah,” said Westbrook. “So yes, there were palm trees in November. We still had the Christmas trees, we put up all the decorations and tried to make it feel like it was cold outside. It was a fun process, and we’ve been wanting to make this record for so long, so we’re excited to actually finally have it out.”
The band got even more into the holiday spirit when it came time to make a video for the album, said Sweet. “We shot the music video in Switzerland, so there was a little bit of snow on the mountains.”…
