A study released by economy analytics company Tourism Economics has found that the 2024 Democratic National Convention had nearly double the expected economic impact on its host city of Chicago, and subsequently on the state of Illinois.
On the report’s first page: the total economic impact of the convention was $371.4 million, supporting a total of 3,211 jobs and generating $28.7 million in local and state level tax revenue. With this, the convention has set the record for most economically beneficial political convention in US history.
The Chicago Convention, as the office of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker noted, “Created 60% greater economic impact than the last in-person Democratic Convention in Philadelphia.”…
