Excessive Heat Warnings return on Friday

Excessive Heat Warnings are back across all of North Texas on Friday. There will be more warnings and advisories over the weekend, but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Friday will feature dangerous heat across all of North Texas through the seven-day forecast. The hottest day will be Friday with afternoon highs at or slightly above 100 degrees and well above 100 to the west of Highway 281.

Heat index values will range from 107-112 from east to west and a few of us could see an isolated afternoon and early evening shower to the south and west of DFW. That’s because an upper-level disturbance will round the southern part of the upper-level ridge that’s centered around Wichita Falls and southwestern Oklahoma.

There are signs that this upper-level ridge will drift off to the north next week. This will allow temperatures to drop a few degrees for afternoon highs with readings in the mid to upper 90s Monday through Thursday. There will also be an upper-level disturbance coming in from the east on Monday and Tuesday that could bring a few showers to parts of North Texas. The best chance will be south of DFW on Monday, a few could sneak into our area on Tuesday, but chances are not that great…
