New SNAP work requirements for certain groups in NM

The New Mexico Health Care Authority announced new work requirements on Tuesday for certain groups receiving SNAP benefits, starting on Jan. 1, 2025.

The change affects SNAP customers between the ages of 18 to 54, who are physically able to work, do not have any dependents and live in Bernalillo, Santa Fe, Eddy and Los Alamos counties, as well as those living in San Ildefonso, Pojoaque, Santa Clara and Laguna Pueblos. Those individuals will need to work a total of 80 hours per month to continue receiving benefits — or will need to comply with another work, educational, or training program for 80 hours per month…
