An individual has been taken into custody in Roseville following an incident sparked by apparent hate and intolerance. Igor Dragun, an 18-year-old from Lincoln, faces serious charges including felony assault and a hate crime tie-in after an altercation at a local Blaze Pizza. As reported by KCRA, Dragun’s arrest stems from a September 19 event where the display of a Pride flag seems to have triggered a violent response.
Following a robust investigation that involved collecting videos and witness statements, Roseville Police were led to the suspect’s home. The police response originally began around 10:15 p.m. after calls regarding an assault at the pizzeria located on Fairway Drive. Dragun is accused of reacting aggressively upon seeing the flag and discarding it on the floor. His confrontation with the Blaze Pizza staff escalated from verbal to physical when he returned with two accomplices, which resulted in one of the employees being hospitalized.
While Dragun is currently in police custody at the Placer County Jail, the search for the remaining suspects continues.
