Two experienced Naval aviators from California, including one from the Sacramento area, died last week when their fighter jet crashed during a training mission.

Lt. Cmdr. Lyndsay P. Evans and Lt. Serena N. Wileman, both 31, died when their EA-18G Growler crashed near Mount Rainier on Tuesday afternoon, the Navy said.

Evans was from Southern California and a USC grad, according to the Navy. She was commissioned through the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps and earned her “wings of gold” out of Naval Air Station Pensacola and became a veteran of two sea tours…
