Sacramento Police Release Footage of Non-Fatal Shooting Incident Following Vehicle Registration Check

New details emerged as the Sacramento Police Department has released video footage of a police shooting incident from September 14. The video, captured from surveillance cameras and officers’ body-worn cameras, provide a clearer picture of the moments leading up to, and following the shooting near Bell Avenue and Beloit Drive.

As per the footage shared by KCRA, two patrol officers spotted a blue Ford Explorer with expired registration. The sequence of events quickly escalated when the driver of the vehicle abruptly parked and proceeded to hastily exit the vehicle. Officers decided to investigate further, eventually leading them to attempt to locate the driver after watching him “get out of the car and go this way,” as one officer narrated in the footage. This ultimately resulted in the need for officers to thoroughly search the area.

Several minutes into the search, officers found the suspect lying on top of a nearby RV. Body camera footage published by Fox40 reveals an officer drawing his firearm and ordering the man to “come down.” Tension escalated when, instead of complying, the suspect ran and jumped from the RV’s roof, leading to a chase that concluded with a confrontation on the ground.
