14-year-old driver injured, 14-year-old passenger killed in car crash in Thumb area

ELLINGTON (WWJ) A car crash in the Thumb area killed a 14-year-old passenger and injured the 14-year-old driver.

In a statement on X; Michigan State Police Third District said troopers responded to reports of a car crash in Ellington Township, about 40 miles northeast of Saginaw, on Saturday (9/21) around 4:20 p.m.

Preliminary investigation showed a 14-year-old Bay City boy had crashed a 2001 Cadillac into a tree in a rural area, near Broadway and N. Murray Road.

His only passenger, a 14-year-old Kawkawlin boy, “became entrapped in the back of the vehicle” and died at the scene from his injuries; State Police said…
