Sheltering Tree cold-weather shelter open nights of Jan.6 to Jan. 9

The Sheltering Tree is gearing up for a long stretch of cold overnight temperatures hovering around the mid-30s for the next four nights (Jan. 6-9). The shelter operated at the Rock Transformation Center (formerly Church on the Rock) is not only for the homeless, but for anyone who is without heat.

“We are grateful for our many teams of volunteers who dedicate their time in order to serve those in need in our community,” said Sue Bickings, chairperson of the Sheltering Tree. “It’s a commitment to volunteer for one night let alone four consecutive nights.”

It’s been a cold winter, and the National Weather Service is once again predicting temperatures to fall below 40 degrees during the overnight hours on Jan. 6, 7, 8, and 9 – the criteria for opening the cold-weather shelter…
