World’s largest ice maze opens with Guinness World Record certification

The Guinness World Records slogan has never been more appropriate. The Minnesota Ice Festival’s ice maze is officially a-maze-ing.

During a ceremony on Friday at TCO Stadium, the festival’s 18,148.89-square-foot ice maze with eight-foot-tall walls was certified by Guinness as the world’s largest ice maze. It’s a big record for the festival after it had to cancel the 2024 event due to the Twin Cities having its warmest winter on record .

It bested the previous record-holder, a 12,855.68-square-foot ice maze in Buffalo, N.Y., which grabbed the title in 2010.

“Breaking the Guinness World Records title for the largest ice maze is a testament to the creativity, craftsmanship, and passion of our entire team at Minnesota Ice,” Robbie Harrell, CEO of Minnesota Ice and The Minnesota Ice Festival, says. “This achievement not only showcases what’s possible when Minnesotans embrace winter, but it also sets a new standard for winter attractions worldwide.”…
