(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) At the Jan. 21, 2025, St. Joseph City Council meeting, the council voted to postpone a resolution that would establish a 30% reduction of intake of solid waste at the St. Joseph landfill.
Bill #1136-22 would have established the 30% reduction, but the council voted to postpone the bill to give the landfill task force more time to come up with a solution to the landfill issue.
“A couple meetings back, we created a task force to work on the landfill and and our landfill is filling up pretty quickly, and we have to react and respond to the Department of Natural Resources,” Mayor John Josendale said. “They can come in and shut the landfill down at any time. If they do that, then everybody’s got to go someplace else.”…
