Malfunction caused St. Louis County storm siren to go off at 4 a.m.

SOUTH COUNTY (First Alert 4) — Residents in an area of Fenton got a wake-up call Friday morning when a storm siren near I-44 and I-270 went off at 4 a.m.

“It didn’t sound like the normal tornado siren and I woke my husband up and told him it was a tornado siren,” said Carla Gill.

A storm siren on Rudder Industrial Park Drive is believed to be the siren that malfunctioned. Melissa Hicks said she went to bed already on a heightened state of alert because of the rain and gusty conditions in the forecast…
