The Gateway Expressway in St. Petersburg will begin toll collection on Friday, May 3, 2024, starting at noon. Tolls will be implemented on SR 686A and SR 690, as well as the I-275 Express Lanes in northern Pinellas County. All tolls will be collected electronically through the SunPass Prepaid Toll Program and TOLL-BY-PLATE systems.
On SR 686A and SR 690, all vehicle types are allowed. The I-275 Express Lanes, however, will be limited to passenger vehicles, registered vanpools, and buses. This restriction aims to improve traffic flow and travel efficiency.
