‘Significant’ power outage threat, flood warnings in Seacoast NH, Maine

Flooding, high winds and power outages are threatening the New Hampshire and southern Maine coastline areas Wednesday.

Coastal communities in the two states — including Kittery, Maine, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire — are projected to see winds upwards of 55 to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service . Rain began Wednesday morning and a total of 2-3 inches is expected, posing a chance for flash flooding.

Locally, temperatures are expected to rise past 50 degrees Fahrenheit hour by hour on Wednesday as rain continues, and wind gusts increase.

When will wind hit Seacoast the hardest?

“Later today, more so this evening into tonight, the winds are really going to kick up,” said meteorologist Jerry Combs of the National Weather Service location in Gray, Maine. “We’re forecasting the strongest winds across the coast. Right along the coast, we have a high wind warning in effect starting at 6 p.m. this evening and that goes through approximately 4 a.m. (Thursday).”…
