TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Temperatures are warming above the freezing mark this weekend, allowing for snow to finally melt across NE Kansas. However, a little bit more wintry precipitation may arrive along the way.
Friday night will prove to be frigid as lows as are forecast to dip down into the lower teens and upper single digits, much colder than the night prior. However, this will not affect the general warming trend around the area, as highs for Saturday are forecast to reach above freezing into the middle to upper 30s. We won’t see as much sunshine Saturday afternoon, but those warmer temperatures will still allow for considerable melting of snow across our area.
Saturday evening will provide a slight chance of additional precipitation, likely a mix of rain and snow. This precipitation will be isolated, and likely will not accumulate with warmer temperatures and an already melting snowpack. Any additional snowfall that parts of NE Kansas may receive will almost certainly melt on Sunday, as temperatures will also be above freezing for that day…
