USPS sorting and delivery system ready for holiday mail in Kansas

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – New sorting and delivery technology is improving mailing efforts in Kansas, and Topeka is the hub for it all.

When the machine hits full stride, it’s processing 5,000 packages every hour.

“Before, we did a manual sortation, and we would have about 300-400 packages per hour,” said United States Postal Service (USPS) Communications Specialist Mark Inglett. “We get the packages worked that much sooner, the carriers get on the street to the customers that much sooner, and we get the mail to them that much sooner as well.”
