November 19, 2024 – The goat horn sourdoughs, “holy moly” batards, bear claws, chocolate croissants, lemon-drenched teacakes, dark chocolate sea salt cookies, savory galettes, vegan crumble pies, figgy goat cheese toasts, bacon quiches, espresso bar and iced teas were already a lot.
The loaded lineup long ago affirmed Companion Bakeshop’s Westside spot as an institution—at 2341 Mission St., Santa Cruz, with a second spot following in Aptos circa 2018—to complement a robust presence at area farmers markets, local grocers and partner cafes and CSAs.
Now Companion has added an in-shop market with a small avalanche of still more good things at its flagship spot, and is convening a party to celebrate. (More on the flavor-forward jubilee appears below.)
The upgrades include additional indoor and outdoor seating and a provisions gallery in the adjoining space to peruse goat milk soap, ceramics, t-shirts, tote bags, cups, mugs, aprons, tea towels, linens, craft chocolates, nut butters, jams, teas and more while waiting on—or enjoying—an order…
