Coastal Cleanup Day in Dana Point Harbor Draws 550 Participants

Vicki Patterson, founder and president of Capistrano Beach-based nonprofit organization Stand Up to Trash, reports that the 40th annual Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 21, was an overwhelming success during the scheduled events in Dana Point Harbor.

“We had an incredible turnout of 550 participants, and together we successfully removed 723 pounds of trash from our oceans and local environment,” Patterson told Dana Point Times, referring to the cleanup at Baby Beach and the Lunch & Learn event that followed at Ocean Institute.
