Coroner identifies 15-year-old killed in Walnut Creek crash

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified a 15-year- old San Jose boy who was killed early Sunday morning when the car in which he was riding slammed into a freeway support pillar in Walnut Creek.

Gerardo Rosales Murillo was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle when it crashed at 2:36 a.m. Sunday on Newell Avenue, under the Interstate Highway 680 overpass.

A Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy was first on scene and performed CPR on Murillo, who was transported by ambulance to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
