IDENTIFIED: ‘Suspicious’ death in Fresno was Bay Area man

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The man who was found dead in Fresno’s Roeding Park was identified by police on Friday as a 44-year-old man from the Bay Area.

According to the Fresno Police Department, officers were called to the scene at around 1 p.m. on Thursday after workers at Roeding Park found the victim unconscious inside the park. EMS responded to the scene first and then reached out to the Fresno Police Department.

‘Suspicious’ death at Roeding Park in Fresno under investigation

Officers say the victim was identified as 44-year-old Solomone Toki. He was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to his left thigh, which investigators say led to his death. Toki was also found with an illegal firearm inside his backpack.

Fresno Police Lt. Paul Cervantes says Solomone Toki was not allowed to possess the firearm he was found with.

“He has an extensive criminal history. Some of those convictions include robbery, carjacking, and numerous weapons violations. He was, in fact, on post-release community supervision for possession of a firearm.”…
