SF Giants quietly delay ceremony honoring beloved ex-PA announcer

Now that the 2024 season has come to an end for the San Francisco Giants, the biggest storyline is the change at the top of the front office and the return of franchise icon Buster Posey. While Posey is back in an everyday role with the orange and black, the voice who called his career at 24 Willie Mays Plaza is not.

The end of the 2024 season also marked the first complete year without longtime public address announcer Renel Brooks-Moon , one of several things the Giants changed before this season that drew headlines.

When the Giants announced in March that Brooks-Moon would not be returning to the booth after 24 seasons, the team’s news release said it would host a ceremony to name the PA booth at Oracle Park after Brooks-Moon. The ceremony would happen “during a future home game” and would “celebrate her historic achievements during the 2024 season,” the team said. Giants owner and chairman Greg Johnson reiterated this plan on “ The TK Show ” podcast in a May 29 episode, though he did not specify a date range…
