‘The station is now finished!’: Bay Area media legend eviscerates KNBR

Longtime KRON-TV sports director and KNBR-AM/FM host Gary Radnich took to social media over the weekend to bash his former station for the most recent wave of changes that included ending Tom Tolbert’s 28-year run as afternoon show host . Radnich, who spent 27 years hosting a mid-morning show on KNBR, eviscerated the station for letting go of Tolbert in a post on X on Saturday morning.

“I will always appreciate what #KNBR did for me and my family but the station is now finished!” Radnich wrote. “Tolbert never forced on the audience how smart he was…he communicated with them in a fun and relatable way. The station has GIVEN UP.”

It’s a rare comment from the retired San Francisco media legend, who was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2010 but was last heard on the airwaves over five years ago. In fact, outside of a January 2020 profile from the Athletic’s Steve Berman, Radnich hadn’t commented on his old employer at all since his retirement…
