Ehrbar leads Women’s Soccer to 3-0 win at Oberlin

OBERLIN — The Otterbein women’s soccer team kept its unbeaten record intact on Wednesday night with a 3-0 win at Oberlin, getting two goals from junior Rae Ehrbar.

The Basics

  • Records: Otterbein (5-0-1 overall), Oberlin (2-3-1 overall)

The Game

  • The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute on a goal from inside the box by senior Bailey Zanella.
  • Otterbein took that 1-0 lead into halftime while holding an 8-5 edge in shots.
  • Ehrbar put Otterbein up 2-0 just 2:06 into the second half, finding the back of the net from just outside the right corner of the goal box and past the outstretched arms of the Oberlin goalkeeper.
  • Ehrbar netted her second goal of the game in the 62nd minute, stealing possession of the ball from an Oberlin player near the left edge of the goal box and maneuvering past that player for a shot that saw the ball find the back of the net after falling out of the goalkeeper’s grasp.
  • Otterbein junior Ella Schwertfager played nearly 68 minutes in goal and recorded three saves. Sophomore Isabella Neal played the final 22-plus minutes and also had three saves.
  • Oberlin finished with an 18-16 edge in shots, and both teams attempted five corner kicks.
