OAK HARBOR – While some people dread getting older, Helen Meister, who turned 100 on Jan. 7, doesn’t mind it at all.
“It’s great to be 100. I left the old dead ones behind,” she said.
Helen’s quick wit and passion for life define her century of living. She always enjoyed working as much as she enjoyed playing, so she was a beautician for over 60 years. She formerly owned The Classic salon in Upper Sandusky and Meister’s in Marion, and she taught at a beauty academy in Marion for several years. She didn’t retire until she was 90, and she still drove a car and mowed her lawn until just a few years ago…
