It seems so long ago when Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were teammates on the Utah Jazz . Even though their alliance was mostly successful, winning 200 out of their 308 games in the regular season, they figured in a rift they couldn’t resolve.
The Jazz ended the Mitchell- Gobert era in the 2022 offseason, giving the ex-partners enough time to ruminate on their failed union that went only as far as the Western Conference semifinals. The current Cleveland Cavaliers star has admitted that his time with Rudy could have gone better, but their lack of maturity was a significant hurdle.
“I think we both would say that we weren’t our most mature selves,” Mitchell said . “But, it’s tough because you’re never the most mature you are going to be when you are 21 or 22. The funny thing is that we were our best after the COVID thing. I think that’s when we got everything on the table, and we were able to go and hoop.”
