Leesburg man facing drug charges after K-9 sniffs out evidence in his Volvo

A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges when a K-9 unit sniffed out two baggies with printed dollar signs containing cocaine.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a white 2010 Volvo in the area of U.S. Highway 441 and Lake Park Court, Mount Dora, around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The stop was due to the tint appearing to be under the legal limit.

Upon contact, the tint of the vehicle was tested and showed results of 5%. The male driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, and 33-year-old Christopher Michele Decotis was identified as the front passenger. Another deputy arrived on scene with his K-9 partner while the other wrote citations for his findings, the report said.

The K-9 unit conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted behind the driver’s side rear door. The driver and Decotis were asked to step out of the vehicle as a result, the report said…
