Driver trapped, roadway shut down after Cameron crash

A young man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday night after crashing into a tree in Cameron. The single-vehicle crash happened just after 11 p.m. on N.C. Highway 24-27 at the intersection of Red Hill Road.

According to authorities on the scene, a Toyota Prius was traveling east toward U.S. Highway 1 when the driver crossed the center line, struck a tree off the left shoulder, and came to a stop in the middle of the roadway.
