Gary Robert Goyette, 79, passed away on Sept. 21, 2024, at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M., during a short hospital stay following a heart attack.

Born in Wausau, Wis., on Aug. 5, 1945, he sported the nickname Flash in childhood but during High School in Mayville, Wis. acquired the nickname Gutsy which stuck for life.

Originally a draftsman by trade, he had a lifelong passion for architecture, craftsmanship, and preservation. In the mid 70’s Gary formed a company named the Victorian Era with his friend Tom Rebholz in Milwaukee, Wis. They restored many Victorian homes in the greater metropolitan area. He spent the remainder of his career first working at Taliesin East, and ultimately retiring from Old World Wisconsin – a job he absolutely loved. Retiring to Guttenberg, he could frequently be found walking along the river with his dog, Natasha and chatting with neighbors and friends. During this time he consulted on restoration of historic buildings in the area such as the Clock Tower of the Clayton County Courthouse…
